Abstract

The purpose of the article is to outline the development of computer graphics as one of the directions of art in the era of postmodernism, as well as its influence on modern aesthetics. The article focuses on the relationship between traditional and digital graphics, which allows replicating works of art using modern technologies. Computer graphics is considered a modeling tool that covers a wide range of artistic directions, such as painting, graphic design, photography, architectural design, and media art. Analysis of the virtual component in various genres of art demonstrates significant transformations in aesthetic perception, where the viewer becomes a co-creator, influencing the final result. The history of computer graphics begins in the 1950s and 1960s, when its artistic potential was just beginning to unfold. The key figures of this period were Ben Laposky, Herbert Franke, Michael Noll, and others, who laid the foundations of vector and three-dimensional graphics. In the following decades, computer graphics actively developed due to technological breakthroughs in the display of 3D objects and the involvement of professional artists. Vera Molnar, Jack Yugerman, David Ehm, and Harold Cohen experimented with the computer as a new creative tool, creating complex compositions, landscapes, and programs for the automatic creation of works of art. The article also examines two main areas of computer graphics: non-figurative graphics, which originate from mathematical formulas and functions, and image processing, which uses material objects as a basis for creativity. These areas had a significant impact on the development of cinema, photography, and the creation of virtual reality. With the development of technology, computer graphics became more accessible and realistic, integrating into popular culture and media applications. Thus, computer graphics continues to change the aesthetics of modern art, combining innovation with traditional approaches. It opens up new horizons for creativity, transforming the viewer into an active participant in the artistic process. This art is not only a means for design or scientific research, but also a powerful tool for creating new forms of aesthetic expression.
