FORMATION OF INDIVIDUAL STYLE IN ART AND DESIGN: HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL ASPECT

The aim of this article is to identify the patterns in the historical development of individual style in art from Antiquity to Postmodernism and to determine the influence of cultural, social, and philosophical factors on the formation of the artist’s visual language. The relevance of the topic is determined by the significance of individual style as a key means of artistic self-expression in the context of cultural and artistic diversity, as well as by the need to examine the interrelationship between the artistic traditions of the past and contemporary artistic practices. It has been established that individual style evolved under the influence of cultural, historical, social, and philosophical factors throughout different historical periods From Antiquity to Modernism, stylistic principles underwent significant transformations, reflecting shifts in aesthetic orientations, creative strategies, and the role of the artist in society. The study of the patterns underlying the formation of artistic traditions demonstrates the interconnection of cultural processes across historical epochs. Furthermore, in the context of Postmodernism, individual style acquires particular significance as a means of self-expression in the absence of unified canons and amid the diversity of artistic and design practices. Contemporary artists combine traditional techniques with innovative methods, technologies, and materials. It has been demonstrated that the integration of individual style contributes to the critical reinterpretation of cultural context, the transformation of traditions, and the generation of new conceptual frameworks within the visual environment. Individual style enables artists to distinguish themselves within a wide range of artistic practices and to develop a personal system of artistic means and expression. The analysis of the historical development of individual style makes it possible to trace changes in the understanding of creative individuality, identify the factors shaping the artist’s visual language, and assess the influence of artistic traditions of previous epochs on contemporary artistic practices.
