Abstract

The relevance of the study is determined by the need for scientific understanding of the processes of adapting planar images to curved body surfaces, since most tattoo compositions are created in a two-dimensional format, whereas their implementation occurs within the conditions of three-dimensional anatomical geometry. The aim of the article is to investigate the process of spatial transformation of a tattoo composition during the transfer of an image onto curved anatomical surfaces of the body and to generalize the principles of its adaptation depending on the type of surface. To achieve this goal, a set of scientific methods was used, including analysis and generalization of artistic and practical tattooing experience, the method of compositional analysis, and a visual-analytical method for image examination.
The results of the study demonstrate that tattooing can be considered a spatial artistic system in which the image is adapted to the geometry of the body surface and interacts with its anatomical plasticity. Within the framework of the research, the term “anatomical projection of a tattoo” is introduced to describe the process of adapting a planar sketch to a curved body surface while considering spatial distortions and the specifics of visual perception. Based on the analysis of the practical process of tattoo creation, a model of spatial transformation of a tattoo composition is proposed, reflecting the sequence of stages from sketch development to the formation of an integrated image on the body surface. The study systematizes the features of compositional construction depending on the type of anatomical surface and identifies the principles of adapting image elements.
The practical value of the research lies in the development of a generalized model of spatial adaptation of tattoo compositions that can be applied in professional tattoo practice, artistic design, and the educational training of tattoo artists. The proposed approach makes it possible to increase the accuracy of compositional placement on different anatomical areas, minimize optical distortions of the image, and ensure a harmonious integration of the tattoo with the plasticity of the human body.
