ACTIVITIES OF TEACHERS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ARTISTIC METAL OF VYZHNYTSKY COLLEGE NAMED AFTER VASYL SHKRIBLYAK AT THE BEGINNING OF THE 21ST CENTURY

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to analyze the creative and pedagogical achievements of the teachers of the Vyzhnytsky Professional College of Arts and Design named after Vasyl Shkriblyak in the field of artistic metal. The relevance of this issue is determined by the cardinal changes in Ukrainian art education, caused by the socio-political realities of the early 21st century, which encourage the understanding of the cultural heritage and modern activities of the Vyzhnytsky school of artistic metal and require proper coverage. The active development of decorative and applied arts in Bukovyna in the late 19th and early 20th centuries marked the beginning of the creation of an educational institution in the field of artistic wood and metalworking, founded with the aim of preserving the traditions of folk culture. Today, Vyzhnytsky College trains specialists in textiles and embroidery, carving and metalworking, with a focus on jewelry and blacksmithing. Over the course of more than a century of teaching artistic metalworking, there have been changes in the methods of teaching professional disciplines (composition, materials science, form-making), which became especially noticeable in the 2010s–2020s. Thus, today, traditional forging techniques and the production of decorations are combined with modern computer technologies, in particular, the use of 3-D modeling when designing future works, and classical techniques for making jewelry or forged products are complemented by compositional solutions inherent in design. However, as at the beginning of the existence of the Vyzhnytsky College, the main attention during training is paid to the formation of the artist’s personality. Therefore, the composition of teachers is important, first of all, among whom are many active participants in blacksmiths festivals and symposiums, exhibitions of decorative and applied art, in particular, jewelry art: Ivan Trufen, Ilya Popiuk, Yaroslav Guliy, Andriy Murzhak, Ivan Popyuk, Oleg Zhebchuk, Ivan Zadorozhny, Kateryna Bolshakova, Svitlana Lutska, Ivanna Durkina, Antonina Andryuk, Iryna Koltsova. In the works of these authors and their students, the combination of innovative technologies and the specifics of the local color, revealed in ornamental motifs and execution techniques, contributes to the emergence of unique works with an emphasized national color.
