THE EVOLUTION OF HOTEL INTERIOR SPACE: THE TRANSFORMATION OF FORMATION PECULIARITIES

The aim of the work is to discover evolutionary transformations of hotel space and modern trends in hotel interior design in view of sustainable development requirements. The work is based on a systematic approach and has interdisciplinary nature. The following methods were used to conduct the research: observation, historicalcomparative method, structural-functional analysis, systematisation and classification methods, which allow analysing the peculiarities of hotel interior design. The use of these methods in the study makes it possible to observe the formation of interior space at different stages of development, their interconnection and distinctive characteristics in design. The scientific novelty of the work is that for the first time, design practices for creating hotel interior space during the following historical periods have been systematised: ancient times (6th-13th centuries, the first prototypes of hotels), the Middle Ages (13th-18th centuries, religious dwellings), modern times (19th-20th centuries, multifunctional hotels), and the present day (21st century, eco-hotels). The hotel interior is considered as a complex design system that harmonises aspects of architecture, environmental design, visual communication design and modern innovations and contributes to the formation of new forms of hospitality. Dynamic changes in the history of hospitality demonstrate the transformation of the traditional hotel into a multifunctional visual and communicative space. The main trends in the formation of hotel interior transformations based on the ecologisation and personalisation of space have been identified. It has been proven that understanding these trends contributes to the formation of new project strategies focused on sustainable development and the harmonisation of human and nature interaction. The practical significance of the research results is important for the design activity of designers in the context of sustainable development goals. The research results form the basis for scientific works related to the study of hotel space. They can be used to organise exhibitions and as a source of inspiration for students and interested individuals.
