ROLE OF NATIONAL MOTIFS IN MODERN UKRAINIAN ARCHITECTURE DESIGN AND THEIR INFLUENCE UPON GLOBALIZATION TRENDS

Abstract

The aim of the article is to study the role of national motifs in modern Ukrainian architecture design, to determine their meaning for preservation of cultural identity under the conditions of globalization and to analyze the impact of national motifs on the formation of global architecture trends. To achieve the research objectives there were used general scientific traditional methods. they include the following: study of bibliography, analysis, systematization, historical and cultural analysis, structural and comparative analysis. During the investigation the peculiarities of using national motifs in modern Ukrainian architecture design were described in details. It was proved that Ukrainian cultural heritage forms a basis for architecture identity. The main elements affecting architecture design are the following: folk art, wooden architecture, church architecture, traditional dwelling planning, fortress and defense architecture. In the article it was found that globalization provokes the usage of similar architecture design elements and it causes the convergence of architecture aesthetics. It was substantiated the influence of globalization on architecture identity. Also, they outlined the positive and negative aspects of the existing interaction between globalization and cultural context of modern architecture design. Besides, the article describes the methods of adaptation of traditional elements to modern requirements of architecture design. They include the following: combining traditions and innovations; rethinking of traditional forms, materials, and motifs; and improvement of functionality of building while preserving its cultural meaning. The results prove the necessity of preservation of national motifs in modern architecture design.
