DESIGN OF EDUCATION IN THE DESIGN EDUCATION OF UKRAINE

Abstract

The dynamic challenges of our time dictate new and novel solutions to educational problems in design, sometimes quite unexpected and non-standard. Classical approaches to presenting new material and practicing professional skills in design, modeling, composition, and layout development do not always yield predictable outcomes in the current context of global digitalization. The above actualizes the relevance of the present article which aims to determine problems of modern design education in Ukraine and formulate proposals for improving the educational process. The article deals with such thematic aspects as the introduction of artificial intelligence into creative activity and academic integrity, changes in information perception by young people, digitalization effects, etc. In particular, it has been found that the urgent problem of Ukrainian design education is, first of all, the education and development of a specialist amidst rapid technological progress and information and emotional overload caused by various circumstances. To solve this and other problems, the author puts forward specific transformations, involving the organization of partnerships between public higher education institutions and alternative education entities (private courses, schools, academies, online tutors, etc.) in the context of design training, the integration of international experience into the Ukrainian educational system, and the introduction of flexible teaching tools adapted to rapid innovations in arts and the socio-cultural challenges of the time (incl. the use of tools authorized and coordinated by teachers); socially responsible coloring of students’ professional activities in the context of choosing topics, conceptualizing and implementing projects; individualization of tasks and templating theoretical works, which will discipline them to present their professional standpoints in an orderly manner and comply with methodological qualification requirements). These steps are in line with the values of transdisciplinarity (breadth, integration, and coordination), which can strengthen the interaction of participants in the educational and creative process at the mentor-student level, adjust focus on the subject matter, and develop creativity.
