TETYANA YABLONSKA’S WORKS 2000–2005: SPECIFICITY OF GENRES

Abstract

Artwork of Tetyana Yablonska (1917–2005) is а іmportant phenomenon in the history of Ukrainian art of the second half of the 20th and early 21st centuries. The aim of this research is to reveal genre’s distinguishing features in her pastels of 2000–2005. The development of the declared article purpose involves the application of the comprehensive scientific approach, and comparative, artistic and stylistic analyses.Since the early 2000s, health have significantly limited the Т. Yablonska's creative space, within the confines of her apartment. At the same time, her laters years of life were very prolific. Despite old age and declining health, she continued her art career. This exemplified, in particular, in the series of landscape motifs around the house, which she painted in a wide variety of weather conditions. Also, the image of the motif of flowers on the windowsill occupied a special place in artwork of T. Yablonska during the 2000s. The variety of interpretations of this motif in pastels is an original phenomenon of her creative heritage of that time. Looking at artist’s late pastels does one recognize their uncanny relatedness: the repertory of subject matter in the landscapes and still lifes painted in such conditions was unusually modest. In works of Т. Yablonska's artistic interpretation of such motifs is an expression of the diversity of beauty and poetry of everyday life.The scientific novelty of paper is to research the specifics of genres and their synthesis by Т. Yablonska's works 2000-2005s in which it is possible to define several main variations: landscapes; images of landscapes with parts of windows as elements of the interior; interpretations of the motif of flowers on the windowsill; still lifes on the windowsill against the background of landscapes; compositions of kitchen items; images of a single object in a still life. Within each of these variations focused the analysis of picturesque and plastic characteristics of works. The article also examines the distinguishing features of constant search for artistic convincing images and the visual expressiveness of ordinary motifs. Thus, the study of Т. Yablonska's works from the 2000s testifies to the specific character of the artist's trajectory in the last years of her life.
